About Lucin
Established in the early 1900s as a railroad town along the Lucin Cutoff — one of the most important engineering achievements in western railroad history — Lucin is no longer an incorporated town and only a handful of residents remain in the surrounding area. The community continues to attract ranchers, historians, photographers, outdoor enthusiasts, rockhounds, hunters, and visitors exploring the Great Salt Lake Desert. Nearby attractions include the historic Lucin Railroad Grade and Cutoff Historic Corridor, the Great Salt Lake Desert, the Newfoundland and Hogup Mountains, and vast BLM lands for camping, OHV recreation, wildlife viewing, and dark-sky photography.
