About Garrison
Originally settled during the 1870s, Garrison became an important stop for the first mail route between Frisco, Utah and Ely, Nevada. Today, the community combines productive ranchland with spectacular Great Basin scenery and continues its rich ranching tradition. The community includes a post office, volunteer fire department, UDOT facilities, and schools serving western Millard County. Nearby attractions include Great Basin National Park, Snake Valley, Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge, Crystal Peak, the Conger Range, the Confusion Range, West Desert public lands, and Gandy Warm Springs. Residents enjoy ATV and UTV riding, camping, hunting, hiking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, photography, rockhounding, scenic drives, and stargazing.
