About McCornick
Named after mining and banking pioneer William McCornick, the community was created as a planned farming settlement supported by irrigation projects. Although many early settlers eventually moved away, agriculture remains the dominant land use throughout the surrounding area, which consists of scattered farms and homes surrounded by productive farmland and wide-open desert. Today, McCornick appeals to buyers seeking quiet country living within reasonable driving distance of Fillmore, Holden, and Delta. Nearby attractions include Little Sahara Recreation Area, Fishlake National Forest, Meadow Hot Springs, Fremont Indian State Park, the Pahvant Mountains, the Fillmore Territorial Statehouse, Gunnison Bend Reservoir, and West Desert public lands. Residents enjoy ATV and UTV riding, camping, hunting, hiking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, photography, scenic drives, farming, and stargazing.
